Joana Ferreira
She is a Learning & Development Specialist at a leading international women's health company. She holds both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering.
Her passion for teaching in the medical field is driven by a deep-seated commitment to making a difference in women's healthcare access worldwide. Her vision is to contribute meaningfully, even in small ways, to the global enhancement of healthcare services for women. In June 2024, one year after her first voluntary experience in São Vicente Island, Joana co-founded Cuida d'bo alongside Miguel Louro and Ana Rita Fontes.

Ana Rita Fontes
She is a Biomedical Engineer, with a specialisation in Clinical Engineering, where she explored how management and engineering principles can be applied to healthcare delivery and innovation. She works as an IT consultant, accustomed to a daily routine of problem-solving and delivering solutions efficiently and creatively—skills she considers fundamental to the creation of Cuida d’bo.
During a trip to Cabo Verde she encountered the origins of this project and could not remain indifferent, given her strong beliefs in healthcare access and women's rights.

Francisca Xara-Brasil
Treasurer
Francisca Xara-Brasil
She is a Biomedical Engineer currently completing a PhD in Computational Biology, where her research focuses on developing biomarkers to improve the prediction of treatment response in cancer patients. Her work combines bioinformatics, molecular biology and translational research, with the goal of bringing scientific discoveries closer to clinical practice.
She first learned about Cuida d’bo through Ana Rita Fontes and joined the NGO in 2024 to support its fundraising efforts. She currently serves as the organisation’s Treasurer and hopes to contribute to ensuring that women in Cabo Verde have the same right to quality healthcare that many of us are fortunate to enjoy.

Federica Giuliani

Federica Giuliani
She is a dynamic bioengineer with international experience across Spain, Belgium, and Italy.
She thrives in multicultural environments, combining technical expertise in medical devices and robotics with strong leadership and customer service skills. Her career spans roles from biomechanical simulation to supervising customer service teams at Hologic.
Federica is detail-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about continuous learning.
Outside of work, she enjoys beach volleyball, swimming, and exploring new cultures.

Ana Mula

Ana Mula
She holds a bachelor's degree in Audio-visual Communication and Advertising and a master’s degree in Communication for Development. She focused her early career on producing multimedia content for various media outlets but soon embarked on the world of international NGOs and acquire new skills to address social issues through effective communication strategies.
She specialised in the implementation of communication strategies for international cooperation projects. Her priority remains that her work contributes to promoting inclusive and sustainable social progress..

Joana Mota
Joana is an Economist at the European Commission, working on macroeconomic cooperation between the EU and partner countries. With experience across several international institutions, including the World Bank, she has dedicated her career to the analysis and design of economic development policies. It is that same vision that she brings to Cuida d'bo, where she contributes through data analysis and policy dialogue to improve women's access to quality healthcare.

Margarida Costa
She is a Biomedical Engineer specialised in Informatics. She works as a Data and Software Engineer. Her role involves analysing complex datasets and developing machine-learning solutions to provide insights that drive innovation and efficiency. During a transformative trip to Cabo Verde, she was captivated by the wonderful people and their warm hospitality known as Morabeza. This experience left a lasting impression on her and inspired a deep connection to the community. She recognised in Cuida d’bo an opportunity to give back to the people who had shown her such kindness. Graciella Ehouly
She obtained a Master’s degree in International Relations, focusing in peace, security and conflict. Over the past several years, she has worked in project management roles across Africa and Europe, primarily within the NGO sector. She has experience in designing, implementing and coordinating projects with a strong focus on social impact. She is currently working within the European institutions, where she is involved in project evaluation, combining her field experience and analytical skills to support effective and impactful programming.

Raquel Venâncio

Raquel Venâncio
Raquel Venâncio is a Senior Project Officer based in Brussels, specialising in European public health policy, project management and stakeholder engagement. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from the Catholic University of Portugal and has extensive experience managing EU-funded projects and working with public institutions and international partners.
Originally from Portugal, Raquel developed a strong connection with Cabo Verde after visiting in 2018, inspired by its warmth and sense of community. Through her volunteer work with Cuida d’bo, she hopes to contribute to initiatives promoting equal opportunities, solidarity and sustainable development.

Beatriz Barros
Beatriz is a biomedical engineer with experience in scientific research, health systems, and public policy. She has worked at the Portuguese Ministry of Health and is currently based in Brussels, where she focuses on European health policy, helping to coordinate strategic initiatives and foster collaboration among institutions and various partners. At Cuida d’bo, she aims to use her experience in project coordination, her knowledge of health care systems, and her ability to mobilize partners to develop and promote activities that raise awareness, support prevention, facilitate early diagnosis, and ensure equitable access to health care in Cape Verde.
